Homemade Brownies (Annette Westenskow)

2 c. sugar

2 c. flour + 3 tbsp

1 c. butter (2 sticks)

4 tbsp cocoa

1 c water

1/2 c. buttermilk or milk w/tsp lemon juice

2 beaten eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking soda

Sift flour and sugar together. Boil butter, cocoa, and water for 1 minute. Add to flour mixture. Add other ingredients and mix well. Bake in 11 x 16 1/2 pan for 400 for 20 minutes. Top with Annette's chocolate frosting immediately upon removing from oven.
